All of your postpartum needs in one spot! - Postpartum Joy Box

Post partum, or the fourth trimester, is a time of so many emotions and feelings. It can be such a blur and being prepared with the necessities can help with the overall experience.

So often, the post partum period is focused on the baby, but not so much on the mom and the focus really does have to be on you, your healing, and your emotional wellbeing.

As a first-time mom, I felt SO overwhelmed hearing of all the things I MIGHT need and went overboard, purchasing everything, making “padsicles” and worrying about what this Fourth Trimester would be like.

I am SO thankful to be working with Tuki in order to provide you with a box full of all of my favourite necessities for postpartum and your fourth trimester. We wanted this box to be full of the things YOU need in order to make you feel comfortable, taken care of AND to give you a little bit of joy and make you feel special.

Here’s a list of the items included, and why I chose these items as my must-have postpartum choices.

Postpartum Underwear

These underwear are breathable and they keep your pad in place, accommodate your changing body, and don’t put pressure on your belly or c-section incision. They are disposable but can be washed and worn many times, making them great for your fourth trimester. During this time you will only want pieces of clothing that are comfortable touching your body, and this definitely includes underwear!

Sitz Bath

Sitz for your bits!! Not to be confused with tea (like I did LOL!) These packs of herbs work to promote healing and decrease swelling. Brew this in your bath tub, or in a bowl sometimes provided by the hospital that sits in the toilet and let your bits soak. You can also add epsom salts to a in order to increase healing and relaxation.

Trust me, taking the time to sit and relax in the sitz bath will feel so good and will definitely help with healing.

Gel Pack

Speaking about your bits! Your perineum will be sore and tender. Mine was even quite itchy and sore when my stitches started to heal, and the thing that helped me the most was ice packs! You may think it sounds weird, but trust me, it causes relief and helped me to be able to sleep!

Toss this gel pack in the freezer, slip it into the ultra-soft sleeve and relax!!! It will also help with hemorrhoids too! I know it doesn’t sound like fun, having ice down there, but I promise you, it helps SO much!

Peri Bottle

This is probably my number one postpartum item!! It was a lifesaver for me. I used it for about a month postpartum and carried it everywhere with me!

After a vaginal birth, toilet paper is a no go. The upside down peri bottle provides a gentle, angled spray as part of your perineal care. This is also great to cleanse your C-section incision.

The hospital will typically give you a peri bottle, but it is upright facing and more difficult to use. This angled spray peri bottle is much easier and convenient. A key tip is to also fill it with warm water, so that its comforting when spraying.

Nipple Butter

Breastfeeding is a journey!! Throughout this journey, you may be sore and tender. This nipple butter is a lifesaver for moisturizing and soothing your nips! It also lasts a long time and smells yummy too! I’ve had mine for over a year and a half and as a bonus, I now use it as my lip balm every night before bed! Its so nourishing!!

Candle

It is so important to schedule time for yourself. I hope this candle will encourage you to take some time to relax, take a deep breath and know that you’re doing an amazing job!! You’ve got this!!

Postpartum Tea

This tea is a nourishing and supportive tea blend including herbs that support recovery and aid in breastmilk production. This tea was created by my naturopath who has helped me so much throughout my motherhood journey, so I’m thankful that it will be able to help you heal too!!

Haakaa Breast Pump

Whether your breastfeeding journey is days or years, this pump can help you. While feeding your baby on one breast, you can catch the milk from a let down on your other breast and save that goodness for your little one.

Hot tip: fill with warm water and epsom salts to help relieve clogged ducts.

Lip Gloss

You may feel like you’re always covered in spit up and milk or formula… because you are! Even though its hard to find time to even brush your hair, we hope that you can throw this beautiful lip gloss in your diaper bag as you take your babe on the go to help you feel extra special!!

So whether purchasing the Postpartum Joy box for yourself, or for a friend, I hope that it brings the recipient joy during their fourth trimester. It can be a tough time and can sometimes feel lonely, but know that you are not alone, you are doing amazing, and you are MORE than enough.
